Current project
When You are Ready is an independent SAG microbudget drama/comedy short film. The story is about a medical interpreter who finds herself between an earnest physician and a Bengali woman brought in for domestic violence. Though the topic is heavy, there are fun moments as the characters assess and understand each other.
About the writer: Salwa Khan a Bengali American actor and writer based in New York. She is passionate about different cultures portraying their own stories. She has been involved with domestic violence through hotline work and being a board member for a domestic violence grassroots organization. Salwa believes that you can't help anyone unless they are ready, and that support and respect can actually be more empowering than we realize.
