Hello! I am a Bengali-American Actress based in New York. I LOVE being able to living my life on my terms, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and my photogenic cat Eboo. I hope to share stories about the medical world, immigrants, and women finding their voice. I have written and produced a short film When You Are Ready that has been accepted to several festivals!
That's me in a nutshell. Here's the longer version:
I am trained in the Meisner Technique and studied Shakespeare at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
All my life I have felt the need to be authentic. I have had a lot of different experiences all of which have lead to me who I am today. I've worked at coffee shops, research labs, taught math and science to middle and high school kids, worked in IT, in public health. And yes after all that I went through medical school and have been privileged to work as a pediatrician. However, when I started acting a few years ago, I realized that this in fact was who I was supposed to be all along!
As a more mature person who has gone through the typical experience of what is acceptable or expected, I hope to someday inspire women, especially south-east Asian/Muslim women to believe that pursuing one's goals and being true to oneself is attainable. I feel it is human nature - to want to be seen for who one is without judgement. I find this a strong driving force within me.
